Question Popped!
*It's probably really corny to write a story about your proposal, but I did, and I love it. Skip this page if you can't handle the corn.
One frigid Sunday in January, Kristi was sitting around the apartment in a grump-filled funk while Mike and Seth went out to the movies. What Kristi didn't know, is that although they did make it to the theater, they had much bigger plans for the day. For weeks the two had plotted in secret, and much of the day was spent gathering supplies and setting the stage. Upon their return, they somehow managed to get the resistant Kristi into her boots and coat, convincing her that some fresh air and a walk in Washington Park would be just what she needed.
It's hard to stay grumpy in a beautiful snow-filled park. They made their way to the lake and Seth and Lucy quickly ran down onto the ice. After Mike managed to convince Kristi that it was safe, they walked to the center beneath the bridge. With a smirk on his face, Seth asked Kristi to turn around. Of course, she was convinced he was going to throw a snowball at her and refused. When she eventually did turn around she saw, to her complete surprise, a sign nailed to a tree. In the adorable handwriting of an eight-year-old it read, "Kristi, will you marry my dad?" Turning back around, she saw Mike on one knee with a ring in his hands. Obviously, she said yes!

Other fun facts about the day:
* The ring was in a bright red felt cowboy hat box. Seth's choice.
* Mike chose that particular spot (the frozen lake beneath the bridge) because it's someplace that you can't always get to.
* Kristi promised that her difficult nature that afternoon would not set the stage for the rest of their lives.
* While she was still staring at the sign and crying into her mittens, another couple wandered onto the ice and said, "Hey guys, what's going on?" before realizing what was, in fact, going on.
* The trio was supposed to be at a birthday celebration less than an hour later. They decided to keep the engagement to themselves so as not to overshadow the party. That lasted about twenty minutes.
